Lower Streatham Neighbourhood Watch and Residents Association. Minutes of meeting held on April 9th 2003. In attendance: Rebecca Barnham, David Mead, Beat Officers Jackie Russell and Lynn Pool, Ian Dennison, Tony Booth, Rebecca Barnham, Cllr Dave Malley 1. Apologies: Cllrs Tim Sargeant & John Kazantzis, Roger Legate, Jonathan Leake, Jenny White, Val Bartlett 2. Minutes of meeting held on March 5th and matters arising: minutes approved. 3. Tankerville Road update – Jackie gave a brief update on the incident concerning the serious robbery in Tankerville Road; DNA samples have been taken and results are being processed. It was a violent and unusual crime, which has not been repeated. 4. CCTV – petards are not working in the Vale – out of 33, only 11 are working. Jackie to keep an eye on the situation. 5. Crime figures: 1 robbery on 118 bus, 55 Buckleigh Road burgled in daytime, Immanuel School attempted burglary. Graffiti – ‘trouble’ had been arrested. Any incidences of graffiti should be reported to the police. More foot patrols along the High Road – due to increase in number of police officers. There has been an increase in the number of mobiles stolen from cars. Police and Streatham Town Centre office are running a shut out crime campaign trying to persuade people to shut their windows. 6. Community Wardens: Dave gave a brief update on the recruitment of community wardens in the area. The scheme in St Leonards most affects this area and the scheme in the DIP will be up and running at the end of the summer. 7. Crime plan: There are 3 main themes – safer streets, safer homes and safer environments. DM said that street lighting was a priority – especially around the stations, a feasibility study on a skateboard site in the Common and speed bumps in areas were also important. Potters passage was also identified as a priority. Corners of roads needing yellow lines were also identified as a priority. Action DM 8. Newsletter: to be published shortly. Articles on Fire engine project required. Action: DM. DM will also be sorting out distribution of newsletters. 9. Public meeting May 15th – RB to send round an agenda and talk to RL re organisation of the meeting. 10. Date of next meeting: Thursday June 5th at 8pm at the Pied Bull.
