Lower Streatham Neighbourhood Watch and Residents Association Minutes for Tuesday, 16 July, 2002 Committee Meeting Membership packs and insurance broker details update * Insurance Broker details are now on the LSNWRA Website * Rebecca to pursue acquiring Lambeth A-Z catalogues to distribute at public meetings and in membership packs. * Membership packs are to be assembled for new and present members andt include in an A5 envelope: Lambeth A-Z, Membership Guide, How to Secure Your Home Guide, Stickers, Newsletter, anything appropriate for this area (TBA). Newsletter update * In next newsletter it would be noted that the co-ordinators would have the Lambeth A-Z for those who wanted one. * Everyone had received their copies of the present newsletter to distribute * Next newsletter: October/November * One item/article suggested was one to encourage the people to report all their crimes, no matter how small or large the incident. * Have extra newsletters available at public meeting Police issues * Mike Wood, Supt. To attend the public meeting on 18/09 –questions to be addressed by him him re: policing in Streatham: - Vice Unit: Since the unit in lower Streatham was dissolved, vice is spreading to lower Streatham again, what is being done to remedy this? - Are we going to have two beat officers? What is being done about this? - Who is replacing Chris Johnson? - Perception of lower Streatham - How much do we actually differ from the rest of Lambeth? - What does Mike feel policing priorities are? * Partnership w/police & neighbourhood watch – Letter to Inspector Mark Thomas Public meeting 18/09 – AGM * It was agreed a flyer regarding the public meeting would be created to distribute throughout lower Streatham * It was agreed local business would be addressed first, then guests would be introduced * It was agreed the AGM would begin at 7:30 and would be completed within 30 minutes. Articles of Constitution would be available for this. AGM agenda would include: - Election of Officers - Election of Members - Election of Members to serve on the Committee - Acceptance of Constitution * It was agreed the guests would be introduced at 8:00, Mike Wood firstly (time allotted – 45 minutes) and then Keith Hill (time allotted – 45 minutes) * Keith Hill questions - Why does Lambeth receive the least amount of money? - What are you doing to obtain more? - Why are our public services so poor? (I.e. potholes, etc) Arranging a demo for property ID * PC Chris Johnson to bring ID information and demonstrate at public meeting Deals, discounts, help for the elderly * Issue to be held over until the next Committee meeting Bank Account for LSNWR * Richard not in attendance. Streatham Ice Rink/Homebase update * Ice Rink issue is and will be in the newsletter * Homebase updates to be chased up by Rebecca. * The lease for the Dr. Surgery office (in row of closed shops over bridge) on Greyhound is up in September, and it is understood that Hombase will then be able to begin its construction Street Cleaning * We have not received the roster from Cllr Sargeant – needs to be followed up * Complaints/comments must be made to Lambeth Streetscene Dept. and it was agreed the public must be encouraged to do the same * Dog mess prosecution – Dave to gather information to put in next newsletter Other Items * The scope of grants available to us will be on next committee meeting agenda. * Rebecca requested ideas from members regarding what to use grants for (projects, fund raising, etc.) * The development of a yearly event sponsored by LSNWRA will be in Committee meeting agendas Next Public meeting date (After 18th September) * It was agreed the next public meeting after the one on 18th September would be in February of 2003 Next Committee Meeting * It was agreed the next Committee Meeting would be on Tuesday, 3rd September, at 7:30 p.m. at the Pied Bull Pub
